Varsity Profiles

Chelsea   Sr.

#2  Position: Libero

Team Captain

Coaches Expectations:  4 yr. Varsity lettermen.  1st team all-district selection last year and played a big role in their play-off run 2006.  Chelsea goes down in the books as the first libero at RHS.  The libero player wears an entirely different jersey from the rest of the team and only plays back row.  She is basically a defensive specialist.  We depend on Chelsea to dig up all of the hard hits that come to the back row.  She has one of the prettiest passes on our team.  She makes her job look easy, but definitely isn’t.  We will look to Chelsea for team leadership and her 4 years of experience will be a great asset in district

Amanda   Sr.

#7  Position: Backrow

Coaches Expectations:  Returning Varsity lettermen.  Was part of the Area Qualifying volleyball team last season.  Gives us added depth on the backrow.  We have also discovered that she can hit some too.  She is one that we expect to come in and help out in various positions when needed.  Her experience will be very helpful throughout district and post season play.  Amanda also has a nice serve that we will be working in to our rotation.

Courtney   Sr.

#8  Position: Outside Hitter

Coaches Expectations:  Led J.V. last season and gained a ton of experience from the constant playing time she received.  Will be used for her outside hitting this season.  She has made vast improvements in the last couple of weeks on seeing the court and reacting to the ball.  Courtney has a really nice serve, it is really hard to read and has a lot of power behind it.  I expect her to be very consistent for us this season and to come on strong in district.

Kassi  Sr.

#10  Position: Setter/Middle Blocker/Hitter

Team Captain

Coaches Expectations:  4 yr. Varsity Letterman, Co-Defensive MVP from last season.  Kassi was a big part of Rangers play-off run last year.   She has a great work ethic and is a constant hustler.  She has a huge heart and is very hard on herself.   She brings a lot of experience to the team with this being her 4th year on Varsity.  Our offense runs really smooth when she is setting.  Kassi sees the court well and her tips/dinks are a major weapon when she catches a team off-guard.  For not having a lot of height she can really get up and block.  Kassi has a very consistent serve and great court presence.  We will look to Kassi for much leadership this season. I expect great things from her in district.

Melissa  Sr.

#12  Position: Hitter/Backrow

Coaches Expectations:  2nd Team All-District last season.  Very physically fit.  Mentally tough, not much seems to affect her nerves.  She was mainly a backrow player last year, but has added hitting to her resume this year.  She wasn’t real sure about tackling the hitting position, but I think she is really beginning to enjoy it.  She has really started getting some power behind her hit and is finding the holes to place the ball in.  I definitely would not want to be receiving her hits!!!  I look for her to really step it up in district play and be a huge threat this season.

Ashley  Soph.

#14  Position:  Middle Blocker

Coaches Expectations:  Is one of our young talented pups.  She is our only true middle blocker.  Works really hard all the time and is very tough on herself.  Is improving daily and will come on strong as the season goes on.  Her hitting is really coming along also.  Ashley is going to develop into a really great player.  She is very coachable and being a part of the team is very important to her.

Rickie   Jr.

#15  Position:  Setter/Outside hitter

Coaches Expectations:  Played a big role on the JV last season.  Is very coachable.  Wants to be the best she can be and is very team oriented.  She set all around for the JV last year, but is working on her hitting this season and is doing very well.  She is not one of our strongest hitters, however, she always seems to find the holes.  Rickie talks well on the court, which works great for our system that we use. We need her to continue developing and by district I expect her to step up and do some great things for us.

Monique   Fresh.

# 18 Setter / Backrow

Coaches Expectations:  Is the one and only fish on varsity.  Does not realize she is a freshmen.  There doesn’t seem  to be much she is afraid of.  Loves to work hard and knows it will payoff in the end.  Will be primarily backrow this season.  Monique will also be our back up setter when needed.

Stephanie  Jr.

# 20 Middle Blocker / Outside hitter

Coaches Expectations:  Further developed game last year on JV.  Really wants to build and be a factor this season.  Works hard on her approach to hit.  Will mainly be outside hitter, but will also be our backup middle blocker.  I expect her to get stronger as the season progresses and help out a lot in district.
