In American Government


The Constitution of the United States divided the powers of government
into three parts, the Legislative, the Executive, and the Judicial. Each of
these parts has as a part of its responsibilities, watching over the other
two parts.t

Legislative Branch

The Congress of the United States.
Its jobs: 1) make laws, 2) confirm the appointments
of the President, 3) Confirm Suprime Court Justices,
4) can pass ammentments to the Constitution.

Executive Branch

The office of the President of the United States.
Jobs: 1) Chief Law Enforcement officer of the United
States, 2)ability to veto bills passed by the Congress,
3) nominates justices for the Supreme Court, 4) has the
power to make treaties with other governments, 5) Has
the power to .

 

Judicial Branch

The Supreme Court

1) rule on the constitutionally of laws passed by the
